RCS 3.0 officially unveiled by the GSMA, a major mobile network operator association. It’ll fix RCS messaging between Android and iOS users’ chat messages since Apple added its support to iOS 18. Google supports it as first time with Android.

RCS includes end-to-end encryption (E2EE) based on the Messaging Layer Security (MLS) protocol, which makes text messages, images, and other file types encrypted before sending over the network. In short, no one will get to see what you sent except the person receiving the message. You’ll need to use proper messaging apps like Apple iMessage and Google Messages. Third-party texting apps typically don’t support RCS right now.
